The 47th annual Catalina Classic Paddle Race concluded at the Manhattan Beach Pier in late August. The 32-mile race from Catalina Island to the California coast brought together over 100 athletes for this amazing open water feat. Photographer extraordinaire Kirill Umrikhin was able to capture some of the action as the athletes approached the final stretch of the race from Palos Verdes buoy R10.
As usual, the photos do not disappoint. Kirill loves his Nikon Z8, Z9 cameras and various focal-length lenses inside his Outex housing system with optical glass ports.
Kirill has been an ambassador for Nikon cameras, San Disk storage, and Manfrotto accessory photo gear as well. He recently moved to Los Angeles, CA from Portugal with his family. He's now based in Manhattan Beach.
Kirill's wife, Olya Rakina, is a world-class profession windsurf & SUP rider who teaches windsurfing and other water-sports around the world. So they're happy to be in sunny Southern California where they can both take advance of the water-friendly weather and crowds year round.
