Optical Glass Dome Port for Split-Level & Underwater Photography
The Dome Lens Add-on Kit adds an optical glass dome port to your existing Pro Kit or Entry Kit, unlocking split-level (half over/under) and wide-angle underwater photography. Dome ports are best used with wide-angle or fisheye lenses, but work across a range of focal lengths. Both dome sizes (120mm and 180mm) are compatible with all Outex covers and cover sizes.
What ships with your kit:
Outex Optical Glass Dome Port (with protective neoprene cover)
One (1) Dome Adaptor and/or Clamp for the lens you specify at checkout
The Dome Port is universal and compatible with all camera lenses. Adaptors thread onto lenses with filter threads; clamps attach to unthreaded, hooded, or fisheye lenses. You can purchase additional adaptors and clamps individually in PARTS if you need more than one size. This kit includes one (1) size of your choice.
Note: Use the comments field at checkout to specify your lens model and filter thread size. The Outex team will include the right adaptor or clamp.
Key Features:
Optical glass construction — not plastic or acrylic
Universal fit: works with virtually all lenses via adaptors (threaded) or clamps (unthreaded/hooded/fisheye)
Dome ports correct for the optical aberrations that occur as light changes speed traveling from air into water. This “bending” of light can cause objects to appear broken or discontinuous at the waterline. Domes also reduce the magnification effect that occurs underwater, restoring natural proportions. Outex ports, including domes, are made of optical glass.
Dome Port Benefits Summary
Domes correct optical aberrations — they reduce distortions and magnification that occur as light travels from air into water, restoring continuity above and below the waterline.
Size matters — larger domes create more separation between the lens and the waterline, further reducing distortions and accommodating lenses with minimum focal distance requirements. The 180mm is the premium choice; the 120mm offers excellent value and portability.
Focal length matters — wide and short focal lengths perform best underwater. Long focal lengths are impractical due to water magnification, clarity, and lighting constraints. Outex supports virtually any lens, but recommends wider lenses for underwater work.
Glass is optically superior — glass domes outperform plastic or acrylic and resist scratching. All Outex ports, including domes, use American or European optical glass.
Universal fit protects your investment — adaptors and clamps position the dome at the optimal optical point for each lens, eliminating vignetting. As you add lenses over time, you simply add the corresponding adaptor or clamp — the dome itself never needs replacing.
Domes are ideal for split-level and underwater use — above water, flat ports are lighter and more practical. Outex flat ports are also nano-coated with an oleophobic & hydrophobic film to repel water droplets, which domes are not. The system is modular: use domes or flat ports interchangeably depending on your shot.

Dome Size Guide
**120mm dome** — Compact, lighter, more portable. Great value for most underwater and split-level work.
**180mm dome** — Larger dome = better optical correction, especially for wide-angle lenses and split-level photography. Recommended for professional and demanding use. Heavier and bulkier than the 120mm.
