When renowned professional photographer Alex Voyer, a long time Outex ambassador decided to pay a visit to Tahiti, he could not pass up an opportunity to visit one of the world's most famous surf breaks - Teahupoo.
Alex frequently sails around the world photographing some of the most beautiful underwater scenes we've seen. And he heard that a big swell was making its way to Teahupoo during his visit.
He says: "I feel very luck to know the best surf photographer around, Ben Thouard, who invited me to Coe with him in the water in order to shoot surfers on this mythical wave. I came with my big diving housing, and this was not a good idea. The waves are too big for the heavy housing. Luckily I had my Outex housing with me, so I took a different approach.
I got my 100mm lens and the results were surprisingly interesting. I'm not a surf photographer, but I learned so much, including appreciation for the complexities of shooting in such environments. As with most types of photography, including underwater, patience is a virtue, and sometimes your best friend."
