Italian naturalist and photographer Fabio Savini won the first prize award in the 'Underwater Worlds' category with his 'New Generation' photo using the Outex waterproof system for his camera & lighting gear. The photo documents the Northern Spectacled Salamander's egg-laying process in the submerged branches of the cold water streams of the Foreste Casentinesi National Park in Italy.
Fabio used the Outex Pro Kit, the Tripod Add On Kit, and various lenses, using both the Dome 180mm and 120mm for different wide angle shots, as well as various tripod-mounted LED lights to illuminate the scene of this particular shot.
Fabio is a wildlife photographer specializing in amphibians and reptiles who has been photographing for many years both above and under water. He has won various awards and his shots can be found in various books and publications in the sector. His favorite animals have led him to travel all around the Apennines and the Italian Alps, but also abroad such as Japan, Cuba, Europe and Africa.
