Professional photographer John Kelsey was born and raised on beautiful Vancouver Island, located on the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada. Growing up on the waters of the Pacific Ocean, in the temperate rainforests of the Pacific Northwest, and under the snowcapped coastal mountains, natural beauty has always played a big part of his life. Wherever he is in the world, he tries to reflect this appreciation of natural beauty in his photography work.
He lived on his 1979 Sabre 28' sailboat in New York City for several years, working with renowned portrait photographers Mark Seliger and Annie Leibovitz. He later worked with Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier as part of the SeaLegacy conservation foundation.
After years as an assistant to these renowned artists and a routine of world travel, John has settled back in Vancouver, Canada, in the Pacific Northwest. He has upgraded his vessels to a 1977 DownEast 38' sailboat, on which he lives and exploits the Northwest while continuing to develop his photography and cinematography careers in both Canada and the United States.
John is an avid conservation advocated, and also works with a number of non-profit organizations in a number of capacities.
John's work speaks for itself and he's growing his own clientele and work in both Canada and the United States.
