Important: Always use silicone-based products on Outex components. Avoid petroleum-based lubricants — they degrade the Outex cover material over time and will shorten its life.

What Each Item Does

• Lubricant (Silicone oil for metal fittings) — Silicone oil for lubricating the threads on Outex glass port flanges and metal fittings. We recommend silicone oil rather than grease because it is less viscous and easier to apply evenly without buildup. Apply a small amount to the threads periodically to keep components threading smoothly and to maintain the waterproof seal integrity. Also available at dive shops and online.
• Silica Gel Packs — Desiccant packs that absorb residual moisture from inside the housing before a dive or storage. Placing a silica gel pack inside the sealed housing helps prevent fogging on the inside of the glass ports — a common issue in humid environments or when transitioning between temperature extremes. Reusable; dry in a low oven to reactivate.
• Protective Lens Case — Protective storage case sized for Outex front glass ports and dome ports. Keeps optical glass surfaces free from scratches, dust, and impact damage when not in use or during transport.
• Protective Case — Larger protective storage case for the full Outex housing system. Suitable for storing or transporting the complete kit.
• Protective Kit (Case + 2 × Lens Case + Lubricant + Gel Packs) — The complete maintenance and storage bundle: one Protective Case, two Protective Lens Cases, one bottle of silicone oil lubricant, and silica gel packs. Best value if you’re setting up a complete care routine for a new or existing kit.

Maintenance Tips

• Apply silicone oil to glass port threads before each use in saltwater or sand environments
• Rinse the housing with fresh water after saltwater use; dry thoroughly before storage
• Store glass ports in their protective cases to prevent scratching
• Include a silica gel pack inside the housing during storage to prevent moisture buildup
• Never use petroleum-based lubricants, WD-40, or solvents on any Outex component
