For Whitewater Rafting

"I bought this primarily for shooting whitewater rafting inside the raft on hot days. So, my rig never really gets a chance to cool down on a long day of shooting. This case system performs great, with only a few minor hiccups, none of which were day-enders."

Outex 120mm dome 5 stars!

"I just started using the Outex 120mm dome paired with my nikor z14-30 fs, i’m still learning this new tool and am excited to incorporate it into my adventure photography business. In terms of construction, it provides a snug fit with the longer pro case i’m currently using on it, the quality of the glass is perfect!"

— Travis C. (5/5)

Awesome.

"No complaints, awesome tool for my first attempt at underwater photography."

— Ellis C. (5/5)

Wooww

"I’ve been dreaming about taking my camera underwater for ages, and I finally got my hands on this housing – and wow, it did not disappoint. From the moment I unboxed it, I could feel the quality. It was so easy to set up that I was ready to dive in within minutes. The 180 dome instantly stood out – crystal clear, beautifully built, and it makes every shot feel cinematic. Out in the water, it felt solid and reliable, giving me the confidence to just focus on capturing the moment. For the price, it honestly feels like a hidden gem, and I can’t help but tell everyone about it."

— Otto N. (5/5)

"The hardest part is stretching it enough over the sharp parts of the camera body, but once everything is in place, the photos are crisp and and controls easy to manipulate."

— Steven (5/5)

Camera Pro Kit + Split-Level & Wide-Angle Dome Add-on Kit - Universal Waterproof Camera Housing System

Configure your Outex system for underwater, split-level, and above-water photography with a Pro Cover, rear optical glass, flat front optical-glass port, and your choice of 120mm or 180mm dome with the appropriate adaptor or clamp. Unlike the Basic Dome Kit, this kit includes both a flat front port and a dome, giving you two port options for different images and practical preferences. Straps are optional.

Outex supports DSLR, mirrorless, cinema, medium-format, and film-camera configurations using the appropriate parts. The correctly fitted and fully sealed system is waterproof to 10 metres / 33 feet.

Select your cover size, dome size, and strap preference using the product options before adding the kit to your cart. For your flat-port thread size, lens details, fitting questions, or special instructions, add the kit to your cart and use the cart’s order-note field before checkout. You can always contact our support team with questions before ordering or using your system.

How to Configure Your Kit

1. Cover Size

  • Regular: a starting point for many camera and lens combinations. Confirm the complete setup’s physical dimensions.
  • Large: provides additional room for larger camera bodies, battery grips, and physically longer lenses. Choose by dimensions, including maximum zoom extension and attached equipment, not focal length alone. (See chart below)
  • Not sure? Select “I don’t know” for help confirming the configuration after purchase, or check our FAQ and contact support before ordering.

2. Dome Size

  • 120mm dome: the more compact option when portability, lower weight, and travel space are priorities.
  • 180mm dome: offers a larger dome surface for split-level compositions, with more weight and bulk. Evaluate the desired composition, waterline handling, focusing requirements, and fittings rather than assuming a larger dome is automatically better for every image.

These measurements describe dome diameter, not lens focal length. Read the dome selection and optical-benefit guide for more detail.

3. Straps

  • With Straps: includes the strap holder, neck strap, and wrist strap. Choose an appropriate carrying arrangement for your activity; straps are not personal flotation equipment.
  • No Straps: straps are not included. They can be added separately from the Parts page.

What’s Included

  1. Outex Pro Cover — patented, malleable, tactile-rich outer housing in your selected size.
  2. Flat front optical-glass port. Specify your lens’s accessible filter-thread diameter in the cart’s order notes, or contact support for help selecting it.
  3. Rear optical-glass port with universal tripod mount attachment.
  4. Optical-glass dome — your choice of 120mm or 180mm diameter.
  5. The appropriate dome adaptor or clamp for your exact lens and dome size:
    • Threaded adaptor: matches accessible lens filter threads, not focal length.
    • Barrel clamp: attaches around the lens when front threads are unavailable or unsuitable. It can also suit a threaded lens whose front thread is occupied by a filter; confirm clearance and fitting.
  6. Strap holder, neck strap, and wrist strap with the “With Straps” option only.

For a fisheye, curved-front, or obstructive nonremovable-hood lens, confirm the exact fitting rather than assuming every lens in that category uses the same parts. The 120mm and 180mm domes use different attachment systems. For zoom lenses, confirm cover and fitting clearance throughout the range you intend to use.

Keep the dome; change the fitting. When you add another lens, you can retain the optical-glass dome and add the appropriate less-expensive adaptor or clamp. The flat port may require a different size to match the new lens’s filter threads. Share your camera body, exact lens model, desired dome size, and intended use with support if you need help.

Why a Dome Port?

Domes are curved optical ports, not camera lenses. They are particularly useful for wide-angle underwater scenes and split-level compositions, helping preserve the underwater field of view compared with a flat port. Correct positioning, fitting clearance, focus, and water conditions also matter.

Outex domes work with any lens using the appropriate dome adaptors or clamps and do not introduce distortion at any focal length. Their curved shape is designed to complement the broad field of view of wide-angle lenses, which derive the greatest optical benefit from the dome.

As focal length increases and the field of view narrows, the lens looks through a smaller area near the center of the dome, gaining less benefit from its curved surface. The benefit therefore diminishes gradually as focal length increases. There is no recommended focal-length number or cutoff, and diminishing benefit does not mean added distortion.

Water clarity, lighting, shooting distance, and the lens’s own optical characteristics can affect the image. These factors should not be confused with distortion introduced by the port being used. Fisheye rendering and vignetting caused by a fitting obstruction are separate issues.

Does an Outex dome introduce distortion with longer-focal-length lenses?

No. Outex domes do not introduce distortion at any focal length. Wide-angle lenses gain the greatest optical benefit; that benefit gradually diminishes as focal length increases because the lens looks primarily through the center of the dome.

The focal length shown in this comparison identifies the example photographs, not a recommended focal-length limit. A flat port can be a practical choice for size, weight, or portability; longer focal lengths do not require switching to a flat port to prevent dome-introduced distortion.

10 Reasons Photographers and Cinematographers Choose Outex

The patented Outex system has been used by photographers, filmmakers, production professionals, and outdoor creators since 2010. Configure its modular components around your equipment and intended use.

1. Optical-Glass Ports and Domes

Outex uses optical-glass ports and domes rather than acrylic, with tactile access to camera and lens controls. Sharpness, color, and field-of-view coverage also depend on the lens, focus, water conditions, and correct fittings. Port material alone does not guarantee every aspect of image quality.

2. Camera Compatibility

Outex supports virtually all camera brands and body types with the appropriate configuration — DSLR, mirrorless, medium format, cinema, and film. Examples include Canon, Sony, Nikon, Leica, RED, Fujifilm, Hasselblad, and Lumix. Confirm the cover, port, fittings, and accessories for your complete setup.

3. Waterproof to 10 Metres

The correctly fitted and sealed system is rated to 10 metres / 33 feet. It can also protect equipment from rain, spray, sand, and dirt during above-water activities. Configure accessory openings and seals for the intended use. It is not a rigid impact-protection case. Learn more about the depth rating.

4. Ergonomic and Tactile

Operate buttons, dials, and switches through the flexible cover, with viewing through the rear glass. Touchscreen operation depends on the device and technique; ask support about your camera’s requirements. Outex’s patented approach keeps controls in their familiar positions rather than relocating them to external housing levers.

5. Modularity and Accessory Support

Add appropriate accessories for flash, strobes, remote triggers, domes, monitors, filters, or underwater tethering. Like your camera system, Outex uses interoperable parts that can be configured as your needs evolve. Accessories shown in examples are not necessarily included in this kit. View all accessories.

Dome Size Guide

**120mm dome** — Compact, lighter, more portable. Great value for most underwater and split-level work.

**180mm dome** — Larger dome = better optical correction, especially for wide-angle lenses and split-level photography. Recommended for professional and demanding use. Heavier and bulkier than the 120mm.
