Michael Clark is an internationally published outdoor photographer specializing in adventure sports, travel, and landscape photography. He produces intense, raw images of athletes pushing their sports to the limit and has risked life and limb on a variety of assignments to bring back stunning images of rock climbers, mountaineers, kayakers, big-wave surfers and mountain bikers in remote locations around the world. He uses unique angles, bold colors, strong graphics and dramatic lighting to capture fleeting moments of passion, gusto, flair and bravado in the outdoors. Balancing extreme action with subtle details, striking portraits and wild landscapes, he creates images for the editorial, advertising and stock markets worldwide. As a former physicist Michael has worked on both sides of the technical revolution – helping refine the technology and using it for his current profession. Michael has worked as a professional photographer since 1996 and added digital photography to his repertoire in 2003. While Michael still shoots some film, mostly medium format, the lion’s share of his images are now produced with high-resolution digital cameras. Matt Catalano

In this short interview clip Matt sits down with the Outex team to talk about Outex; what it is, why he likes it, and how he uses it. Matt is one of the original Outex early adopters and has been using it for years. Matt is originally from New Jersey, USA. His father was an avid traveler, fisherman and amateur photographer and one of the main factors that led Matt into photography and the ocean. Growing up at the beach Matt taught himself how to surf. A good friend of his ended up on a world surfing circuit and they teamed up to create an international surf/bodyboard video around the turn of the millennium. This project and its travels brought Matt to California, Mexico and to Hawaii in search of waves and kickstarted his journey in ocean visuals. From 2000-2004 Matt attended Wake Forest University and Lehigh University in pursuit of a BS in business. He graduated with honors and took employment as financial consultant in 2005 for a year before transitioning to remote role for the next 6 years into 2012. His flexible work situation allowed him to live anywhere in the world with access to the Internet and helped fund Matt’s passion for ocean and surf photography. Matt acted as an artist and part-time freelance photographer and chased surf in countries all over the globe during this period from shooting WQS and WCT events in Australia to working on non-profit projects in Peru.
